National Football League (NFL) Commissioner, Roger Goodell, testified for two hours to start Ray Rice's appeal last Wednesday.

Rice, a player for the Baltimore Ravens, has been suspended indefinitely from the NFL due to recently surfaced footage that showed him knocking out his wife Janay Palmer in an elevator.

His suspension came due to the fact that he violated the NFL's personal conduct policy.

According to a source who chose to remain anonymous, Goodell spent most of his testimony under cross examination from Rice's attorney.

Goodell had originally suspended Rice for only two games. The league considered the video made public after the initial suspension to be new evidence. This supposedly gave Goodell the authority to amend Rice's punishment.

However, Rice's attorneys are arguing that Rice was punished twice. The two punishments are not possible, as the attorneys cite the collective bargaining agreement.

They also argue that Rice had given clear exact details when he first met with Goodell in June, while Goodell said that the details were ambiguous.

Rice was there, listening for nearly 10 hours in the hearing. These proceedings happened two months after the former Pro Bowl running back was recently suspended and released by the Baltimore Ravens.

Rice is seeking immediate reinstatement. However, even if the hearings go the way he wants, it is highly questionable whether any team will be willing to sign him.

In addition, he has also signed a separate wrongful termination grievance against his team, the Ravens.

Rice and his wife will be testifying on Thursday at the offices of former U.S. District Judge Barbara S. Jones in New York.

It is unclear how long the people will have to wait for the decision of the court, but it is sure that Jones will not be deciding this Thursday.
