Michael Vick, quarterback for the New York Jets, becomes the first quarterback in the history of the National Football League to reach 6,000 rushing yards. In reaching this milestone, Vick and the Jets won against the surging Pittsburgh Steelers, 20-13.
Coming into the season, Vick already held the record for career rushing yards by a quarterback with 5,967 rushing yards. He ran 39 yards in the game to reach the achievement.

"Really, it makes me feel old, because that's years of hard work," Vick said. "Probably something that -- well, I know it's something that hasn't been done in the league up until this point. It's a major milestone."
To put it into context, his former Eagles teammate, running back LeSean McCoy, had 6,095 yards as of last week.
The 34-year old backup quarterback, who was only recently promoted to a starting position, is followed by Quarterbacks Randall Cunningham and Steve Young, who have 4,928 and 4,239 career rushing yards, respectively.
While the milestone is significant, it has become even more notable as they also beat the Steelers at their home turf.
Ben Roethlisberger, quarterback for the Steelers, threw six touchdown passes in each of his last two games. He was also playing in front of a MetLife Stadium full of Steelers fans.
However, the Jets did not allow Roethlisberger to get into much of a rhythm in the game.
Throughout the game, Vick threw two touchdown passes while their defense was able to force four turnovers including two interceptions by Jaiquawn Jarrett.
The Steelers were also observed to never gain control. In the first quarter alone, the Jets scored 17 points, leaving the Steelers scoreless. Despite the effort of Roethlisberger and his team, they never caught up.
Vick and the Jets snapped their eight-game losing streak with this win against the Steelers.
