49ers Beat Saints in Overtime Thriller

The National Football League's San Francisco 49ers handed the New Orleans Saints a rare home loss, 27-24. They winning team was led by the quarterback Colin Kaepernick and linebacker Ahmed Brooks.

The 49ers started the game strong and took hold of the lead.

In the first quarter, the 49ers put the first points on the scoreboard with a four-yard run by Frank Gore. Carlos Hyde contributed seven more points with a nine-yard touchdown run that capped a 13-play drive.

Shayne Graham came through for the Saints though, and got a field goal by the end of the first quarter,

The second quarter, saw touchdown action from both teams. Saints quarterback Drew Brees drilled a 31-yard pass to Brandin Cooks, while Kaepernick had a 15-yard touchdown pass as well to Anquan Boldin.

By halftime, the 49ers were leading, 21-10.

The third was all Saints though, as their defense held the 49ers down and did not allow them to score any points. Jimmy Graham received an 11-yard touchdown pass to bring down the score deficit.

Brees came out red hot in the fourth quarter and completed another pass to Graham, giving the Saints the lead.

With time running out, Kaepernick was able to complete a 51-yard pass on fourth down to sustain a tying drive in the final minutes of regulation. Three points down, Phil Dawson completed a field goal that equalized the scores, 24 apiece.

The Saints nearly won though, as Brees threw a long toss to Graham who was able to catch the pass in the end zone. However, Graham was called for pass interference when he shoved defensive back Perrish Cox to the turf.

The game went to overtime.

From there, it only took another 35-yard field goal from to Dawson to seal the Saints' fate and hand them a rare loss on their home turf.
