Following the official announcement of their divorce, Hong Kong actor Lawrence Ng's soon-to-be former wife, Mainland Chinese actress Shi Yang Zi, has broken her silence to refute rumors claiming the involvement of a third party in their marriage, explaining that the cause of their split was due to living apart for more than three years.

Though Ng has previously claimed that his marriage with Shi fell apart due to his inability to deal with their issues, the latter claimed that they have decided to file for divorce in order to break away from the difficulties and problems brought about by their unfortunate decision to live separately for almost four years now.

Furthermore, as opposed to the rumors that there was a third party involves, she dismissed the claims, saying that their divorce had nothing to do with individuals outside of their marriage and the decision had been solely theirs.

The 29-year old actress also spoke about her alleged communication problems with Ng, saying that although people have speculated that one of the factors that resulted to their divorce was their 21-year age gap, she had worked hard to overcome her differences with Ng.

Speculations have also previously claimed that the actress' wish to return to work has also contributed to their decision to separate, but Shi insisted that it had nothing to do with the issue. Additionally, she revealed that she had been working despite being married. However, she also admitted that she had to reduce her workload in order to take care of her family.

On the other hand, the actress revealed that she had been emotionally unstable, following her decision to end their seven-year marriage with Ng.

"I felt a little down," says Shi, "but I've been clam because we have been separated for three to four years. She also explained that despite accepting their decision, she and Ng had been shocked when the news surfaced.

With regard to the claims that the former celeb couple will be battling for the custody of their six-year old daughter, Xi Er, Shi revealed that she and Ng have decided to uphold joint custody.

Despite getting a divorce from Ng, Shi stated that she and the actor will remain friends in order to protect Xi Er's best interests.
