Randy Jackson, one of the remaining original cast members of "American Idol", is set to bow out of the hit reality singing competition. Jackson's decision comes after being in the show for 13 seasons.
The musician and record producer started as a judge on the show. The original panel consisted of Jackson, Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul.

Cowell and Abdul are no longer part of the said show and had moved on to other projects.
Cowell is a judge on "The X Factor".
Since her departure from the show, Abdul joined Cowell as a judge on the first season of "The X Factor". She also became a judge on "Live to Dance" and a guest judge on "So You Think You Can Dance?"
In season 13, Jackson decided to move to a mentoring role instead of staying in the panel.
Currently, the panel consists of Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. All three will be returning to the show for its 14th season which will kick off next year.
With Jackson's departure, host Ryan Seacrest will be the only original face left in the reality show.
In a statement released to the press, the show's producers, FremantleMedia North America and 19 Entertainment, said, "Randy has been such an integral part of American Idol since Day 1, both as a judge and as a mentor. He's provided great advice and support, shaping the success of so many Idols we have discovered over the years. We wish him all the best in his next chapter. Randy will always be part of our Idol family and we hope he'll visit from time to time."
For his part, Jackson shared that he felt that it was the perfect time for him to leave the show, but that he is incredibly proud to have been a part of a show that has discovered some of the world's greatest artists and, a series that will go down in history as one of the most successful in television.
