Kahwi Leonard Says He Will be Part of the Spurs for Life

While San Antonio Spurs forward Kahwi Leonard did not sign a contract extension before the October 31 deadline, he recently said that he is sure he will be in a Spurs jersey for the rest of his life.

Since he didn't sign a contract extension, this would mean that he is headed towards restricted free agency status.

This came as a surprise to some players and fans, as Leonard was the Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP), and the team was very direct and clear about how he was, the future of the franchise.

However, it turns out that ignoring the contract extension really wasn't an issue. In a recent interview with USA Today's Sam Amick, he drove the point home.

"I was never upset about (the extension)," Leonard said. "I mean they explained to me what their deal is and why they didn't do it yet."

"That'll play out. I'm just here to play basketball and have fun and try to win another championship. If I think about that, then I'm not going to be the same player that I am and will be just out of it."

He also added that he can't be impatient because it would show on the floor and he wouldn't be the same basketball player.

Leonard doesn't think he is going anywhere. They love him over in San Antonio and within their basketball organization. He said that he wanted to stay loyal to one organization his whole career, and that the Spurs was the team.

These quotes came after the Spurs beat the Los Angeles Clippers, 89-85.

The game was a special one for the Spurs and for Leonard. This marked the 500th career win where Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker, and Tim Duncan have played together.

However, most of the game, Head Coach Gregg Popovich was utilizing Leonard more.

Leonard helped turn the tide and his efforts won the game for the Spurs.
