A collection of Marilyn Monroe's letters, entitled "Marilyn Monroe's Lost Archives", will be up for bidding this coming December at Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills.

The said letters consist of back-and-forth correspondences between Monroe and the men in her life, including her second husband, baseball legend Joe DiMaggio, and, the star's third and last husband, playwright Arthur Miller.

In one of the letters penned by DiMaggio, he wrote of how he continued to love her despite the disintegration of their marriage. He also told her of how he felt when he saw her on television announcing that their romance had ended and, that she was planning to file for divorce. "My heart split even wider seeing you cry in front of all these people," he said.

A letter from her good friend Jane Russell sought to convince the actress to give her marriage to DiMaggio another chance. The letter was 10 pages long and, featured the star's very neat handwriting.

Some have said that Monroe was planning to reconcile with DiMaggio, but that she had passed away before they could pursue their plans of getting back together.

Aside from DiMaggio and Russell's letters, the 300-item collection also includes a handwritten letter Monroe penned to Miller in which the sex symbol relays to her husband how she felt so insecure about herself. Letters from her Hollywood friends such as Cary Grant and Clark Gable are also part of the collection.

Auction owner Darren Julien believes that the letters could fetch up to more than $1 million, sharing that a watercolor painting the actress had done for President John F. Kennedy managed to fetch $80,000 at an estate auction nine years ago.

Monroe passed away in 1962 at the age of 36. Narcotics were found in her system and, the Los Angeles County Coroners office recorded her cause of death as "acute barbiturate poisoning", resulting from a "probable suicide".
