Speculations about the issue came to light after a photo of Kim at one of the community's meeting surfaced online. Media reports say that he was one of the speakers during said gathering of the New Right Union.

Furthermore, the 23-year old singer's father is said to be known for criticizing the South Korean government for its payment system for public workers. Based on the data gathered by the media, Kim is a professor at a university in Seoul who has written an article to openly criticize the Sewol Ho ferry accident which happened back in April of this year.

In his article, Kim cited that South Korea is a democratic country, further explaining that 'a democratic country can be seen from the level of its citizens'.

According to the idol's father, the citizens of the country as well as the government are expecting too much from a country he deemed to be 'not so rich'. He added that in order for people to ensure their security in the country, they either have to pay more taxes or just be silent.

"The country and the president are not gods," wrote Kim in his article.

According to media reports, it has been the second time in the K-Pop community that an artist's direct relative would be involved in such negative news. Recently, iKON member B.I.'s father has also been involved in an embezzlement scandal.

On the other hand, EXO is currently in Japan for the continuation of their Asia concert tour and has just wrapped up with the first part of 'The Lost Planet' in Fukuoka yesterday.
