Mozilla Firefox is 10 Years-old; Releases New Features

Before Google Chrome came along, Mozilla Firefox was the most-used web browser all over the world and November 11 marked its 10th anniversary. And to celebrate this milestone, the company rolled out new features, including a developer-centric version of the browser.

Firefox's new features include the search engine "DuckDuckGo," which comes as a pre-installed option for Android, Mac, Linux and Windows. They also added a "forget" feature that lets users clear out the history easier. It also best fits those that want to browse in private.

As for the Developer Edition, Firefox designed it with tools specifically made for the ease of web developers. This has built-in options for developers to test web apps and try remote debugging.

Firefox was originally released on September 2002 but its Firefox 1.0 version was only made available to the public in 2004.

Firefox received 10 million browser downloads just a month after its launch. To celebrate this event, Mozilla will publish a full-page in The New York Times.

Mozilla Firefox is still in use despite competitors such as the Google Chrome and Apple's Safari. Also, back when Firefox was still new, Internet Explorer dominated the web browsers available in the market.

Firefox was hailed as a fast and modern web browser back when it was launched. It also had extensions, which Internet Explorer didn't have.

Users said Firefox was definitely a breath of fresh air after years of toiling with Internet Explorer.

Happy birthday, Firefox!
