Taylor Swift's 1989' Tops Billboard 200 Chart on Second Week

Taylor Swift's blockbuster 1989 album continues to rule the charts as it spends on its second week at the No.1 at the 200 chart.

The album sold 402,000 copies in the week ending Nov. 9, Nielsen SoundScan can reveal.

1989 shattered record sales on its first week, selling over 1.287 million, the only million-selling album in 2014 by a solo act.

Likewise, the album's second-week sales is also the second-highest grossing week for an album this year.

So far, 1989 has sold 1.688 million copies.

Because of 1989's sturdy performance on its second week, it seemed that recording studios are hesitant to make their new releases. So far, only two new records from A-list singers competed with 1989

Bette Midler's It's the Girls debuted at No. 3 while Calvin Harris' Motion entered at the top 10 at No. 5).

Midler's album is a tribute to girl groups. Among her singles include her own versions of TLC's "Waterfalls" and The Supremes' "You Can't Hurry Love." The album made 40,000 sold on its debut week, giving Midler the biggest-selling debut in her career, and the second-highest charting album since Beaches peaked at No. 2.  It's the Girls is Midler's first album since she released her greatest hits set Jackpot! The Best Bette in 2008.

Following Midler on No. 4 is Jason Aldean's Old Boots, New Dirt, formerly the chart's No. 1. The album's exposure at the Country Music Association (CMA) Awards (after Aldean performed at the broadcast) on Nov. 5 helped the album stayed on the top 5.

Meanwhile, Calvin Harris makes her top 10 album debut with his fourth studio album, Motion, at No. 5. Calvin also enjoyed the best sales week of his career, selling over 35,000 albums. His previous album, 18 Months, peaked at No. 19 in 2012 and sold 17,000 copies on its first week.
