Estrada is being held in custody as the investigation is still ongoing and is said to be under a post of $1 million.
According to the reports of LAPD's spokeswoman Officer Nuria Vanegas, the attack happened on Sunday when Garcia, together with his family and friends, were celebrating his homecoming. Witnesses pressed that the teenager got out of a car when Garcia was on the streets, as he left the party at his girlfriend's house, the teenager smashed a beer bottle on the ground.
The teenager began screaming and retrieved a handgun from the car and shot Garcia, who was declared dead at the scene of the crime. Investigators pressed that they still do not know what the motive on the said attack was but they believe that the shooting was due to an earlier dispute.
LAPD Lt. Paul Vernon said in a statement, "Apparently, a simmering dispute had boiled over during the night, and this suspect came looking for Francisco. Figuring out the dispute should lead us to the shooter.''
Also, the family members of Garcia pressed that there was no welcome home gathering as he just returned to Afghanistan over the summer. Police are also looking at this angle.
The investigators continue to interview witnesses and collect more evidence and anyone who wants to come forward are encouraged to call (818) 838-9948.
