The commercial drone market is starting to get serious in the U.S., where people are finding different ways to program and use their drones.
In China, the commercial drone market is starting to grow as well, and DJI Technology Co is hoping to capitalize on the growing trend with an all-new, $3,000 Inspire 1 drone, featuring some nifty upgrades.

DJI is hoping China's drone fans want an upgrade from the Phantom, the most popular drone in the country at $1,000. This is already an expensive gadget, but for people into drones, it is mid-range in terms of quality, something DJI wants to improve on.
To start off, the Inspire 1 has a 4K camera attached, offering higher quality video and photo quality, compared to the Phantom. The camera is attached to a rotor, which can turn 360 degrees, giving full view of the scene once the Inspire 1 is off the ground.
DJI is creating an open software platform, allowing programmers to create new uses for the Inspire 1. This could be anything from creating a route it should take a specific time of the day, to using the 4K camera to scan for certain objects in an area.
Having an open software platform also opens the Inspire 1 up to enterprise and government acquisition. Governments are looking to utilize commercial drones for various departments. Amazon, Google and other tech companies are already showing interest in drones.
Right now, restrictions in China and the U.S. limit the Inspire 1's full potential. The U.S.'s Federal Aviation Administration will look into removing these barriers in 2015, which will hopefully allow commercial drones into the market, for all types of new markets.
Expensive tech gadgets are starting to trend in China - Apple's iPhone 6 and 6 Plus achieved over 30 million sales in the country, and one of the Mac Pro's largest markets is China.
