Following the rumours that Hong Kong actor Kevin Cheng  and actress Myolie Wu might be secretly dating, both have stepped up to deny the claims, saying that they were just close colleagues and nothing more.

Last week, it was reported that Wu and Cheng had been spotted interacting very closely with each other at the former's birthday party. The two celebrities' photos at the party then sparked speculations that they could be dating in secret.

However, at an event that Cheng attended last Tuesday, November 11, he denied the rumours. The actor denied being involved with Wu romantically. He then added that since the rumours surfaced, he had been scared that other men would not dare to pursue the actress as they might think he is in a relationship with her.

"She does not have a boyfriend. Interested parties may feel free to pursue her," Cheng stated.

When he was asked if there was a chance that he and Wu might get together, Cheng said that the both of them have known each other for too long, adding that if they wanted to date each other, it would have happened a long time ago. He later emphasized that he and Wu are just close colleagues.

As for Wu, who was also present at the same event, she also backed Cheng's claims, saying that there was nothing going on between them. She then revealed that many of her friends sent her messages when the news broke out.

Wu also stated that when she learned about the rumours, she called the actor in order to get his side of the story. "The reports are obviously groundless," Wu said with a laugh.

Furthermore, she has also expressed that having a romantic relationship with Cheng isn't possible as they have been colleagues for too long. Wu added that she would collaborate with him professionally in the future.
