A South Korean online media outlet called DongA has released an exclusive news about the boy band EXO's upcoming activities, claiming that they will be making a comeback in January 2015, starting anew with a different concept this time around.
Following the rather controversial departure of two of EXO's Chinese members, Lu Han and Kris Wu, the South Korean-Chinese boy band has reportedly been preparing for a comeback early next year for the release of their second official album.

According to media outlets, if the release of the album would push through according to the plan, the new album will be their newest release since the lunching of their last album, 'Overdose', which was released last May and was promoted separately by EXO-K and EXO-M in Korea and China respectively. It would also be a year and seven months since they have released their first full-length album, 'XOXO' which was released in June of 2013.
Previously, it had been confirmed that Kris Wu, otherwise known as Wu Yi Fan, filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment to nullify his contract last May 15. Roughly five months later, Lu Han also took the same course of actions and has permanently left the group.
Despite being one of the most popular K-Pop groups with their powerful performances and music, EXO's fans have expressed their concern regarding the boy band and how they are going to pull it off with the absence of two members. Other have also thought that the band would do just fine especially after it was announced that the group will be performing as a single unit, this time, with 10 members.
Furthermore, their comeback in January is said to hold a great significance for EXO, the exact reason why SM Entertainment, their managing company, has been working closely with the members of the band in order to look into the smallest details of the album.
Speculations say that it was SM Entertainment's way to prove that EXO is still the most prominent idol group in the industry. Despite the controversies they have been embroiled in, a recent survey has named EXO as the best idol group of 2014.
Previously, it has also been stated that the group will be making a comeback last October 25, however it turned out that the news just came from a mistranslated comment from a Hong Kong fan.
On the one hand, despite being inactive in the music scene, some of the members had been busy promoting for solo activities. The remaining members of EXO-M in particular had been actively participating in different activities recently.
Zhang Yi Xing, more popularly known as Lay, has been featured in numerous shows in China and has recently filmed a variety show with his fellow member Kim Min Seok, who is known as Xiu Min among Chinese fans.
On the other hand, Park Chan Yeol and Huang Zi Tao have also participated in Super Junior M's Zhoumi's solo track, 'Rewind', performing the rap part of the Korean and Chinese version respectively.
