Yishan Wong, Reddit's chief executive officer, resigned from the company's top post, two and a half years after he assumed office.
Ellen Pao, who serves as the company's business and partnerships strategist, will temporarily take the helm of company management until a new CEO is appointed.

Reddit, one of the most popular message board in the Internet, is projecting future growth, but it may just have to achieve that with a new management steering the company.
And some familiar names might just get on board again...
Take Alexis Ohanian, one of Reddit's founders, who is slated to sit as the company's executive chairman, marketing, strategy and communications head.
"There is a long history of founders returning to companies and doing great things," Sam Altman, a Reddit consultant, wrote in a blog post.
Wong did not specify the exact reason why he's leaving the company but the dispute over the shift in work location and lease of a new office could be one.
The past months have been difficult at Reddit after the management asked that the company's global employees transfer to San Francisco or resign, according to tweets sent by Mr. Wong.
Wong recently had a brawl with an ex-employee, wherein he revealed the details of his termination. Some company insiders said it made Reddit's employees uncomfortable.
For now, Pao, who may eventually get the top post, will work closely with Ohanian and Dan McComas in developing Reddit's product strategy.
Reddit was launched in 2005 with more than 170 million monthly visitors worldwide, although it failed to come up with a lucrative revenue model up to now.
The company has already raised US$50 million in venture capital from Andreessen Horowitz, among others, and Pao is working hard to determine what revenue streams would maximize income generation, including acquiring and releasing a mobile app and launching a crowdfunding site.
