China Unveils Super Maglev High-Speed Train Prototype

Chinese researchers have successfully tested the new high-speed train super maglev that could hit a super fast speed of up to 1800 miles per hour.

The study on the high-speed train prototype was conducted by Southwest Jiaotong University Applied Superconductivity Laboratory, which made the train run inside a vacuum tube where there is no air resistance to restrain its speed.

A theoretical speed of 1800 MPH, which the super-maglev proved capable of during testing, would blow away the doors of a Musk 300 MPH train. This is because the super train only meets 1/10 loop of the air resistance within the Evacuated Tube Transport from the outside environment.

The study also showed that a vehicle traveling higher than a 250 MPH speed is fighting aerodynamic resistance.

The head of the study, Dr. Deng Zigang, said that the technology could allow the inception of new trains running at super fast speed.  However, Zigang said this vision needed further study and development.

Currently, the super maglev test train is running within the vacuum loop with a six-meter diameter at a limited speed of 50 kilometers per hour at maximum.

Dr. Zigang said that tests are currently being conducted to evaluate the new super maglev system, which is said to be the same as an the Elon Musk Hyperloop.  Zigang added that his team would release the successful running results in the near future.

The head of the super maglev train study said that as of now, China has the fastest passenger train in the world, the Shanghai Maglev Train. The latter travels at a fast speed of 431 kilometers per hour. Dr. Zigang added that although the idea of the super maglev is still a dream, the race for making it a reality would go on.
