3-Year Old Indiana Girl Keeps 'Lonely' Santa Company

Three-year old Gracie Lynn Wilson of Evansville, Indiana may be the Christmas story we all thought we've outgrown.

On Wednesday, Gracie jumped out at the sight of 'Santa', but not for the usual reasons we know. She never asked for a gift.

Instead, her kind little heart went out to the white-bearded, bespectacled old man in red pants, suspenders and Christmassy printed shirt who was about to dine all by his lonesome self.

"Santa Claus can't eat alone, mommy," she was quoted as saying.

Gracie then joined the man who looked like Saint Nick for breakfast in his booth at Bob Evans American Diner.

"She pulled up the chair and they just started having a conversation like they knew each other for years," Gracie's mom, Lindsey, said of the unexpected moment.

Gracie shared with her Santa how excited she was to meet her new brother who is due to be born soon, Lindsey added.

Gracie's Santa was later traced and identified by WFIE as the Santa Claus at Eastland Mall, who is adored by kids across town.

"I've seen kids all freaking out and screaming and in seconds he has them laughing and smiling, he really brings out the magic of Christmas for children," one resident said.

Asked about his encounter with Gracie, Eastland Mall's Santa described her as "quite a special young lady" who knows the value of friendship at her tender age.

A photo of Gracie's memorable encounter with her Santa, meanwhile, has been posted on Facebook where it garnered thousands of 'likes' and 'shares' in the last three days, with many commenters describing it as an adorable, beautiful story that we need more of these days.

Indeed.
