Can China really build a 12,870 kilometer-long railway to the USA?

It's a jaw dropping project whose sheer length and ambition is astounding.China is said to be looking into the feasibility of building a "China-Russia-Canada-America" railway line, which, if completed, will be the longest in the world.
Chinese experts from the Chinese Academy of Engineering estimate it could take some two days to complete the entire 12,870 kilometer trip that will start from northeast China; wend its way through Siberia; cross the Bering Strait via a 125 mile long underwater tunnel into Alaska; move through Canada and enter the continental USA.

As planned, the Bering Sea underwater tunnel connecting Siberia to Alaska will be four times the length of the Channel Tunnel or Chunnel connecting the UK to France. It will require an unheard of feat of engineering and stands to become the world's longest undersea tunnel.
China is said to have discussed the ambitious project with Russia, which has also mulled a similar plan for years. Media reports said Russia would join the project although there has been no independent confirmation of this.
Some skeptics, however, noted that China does not have the technology and means to develop, build and complete a construction project of this magnitude. No other Chinese railway expert has also come out to support the supposed railway project.
On the other hand, the state-run China Daily claims that China does have the technology to push through with this mammoth project. It noted China intends to build an underwater tunnel that will connect the Chinese province of Fujian to Taiwan.
Analysts said China is intent on building the "New Silk Road," a railway line that will link Central Asia with Europe. Earlier, a Chinese research team claimed to have developed a prototype of a Hyperloop train that could reach speeds of 2,896 km/h.
