The product of Samsung's and Oculus' collaboration is now available from the Oculus Development Center. "Oculus Mobile SDK version 0.4.0" specifically tailored for the Samsung Gear VR Edition and the recently released Galaxy Note 4 is expected to lead virtual reality's assault on mobiles, Oculus VR reported.

Oculus, which is the virtual reality company of Facebook, said the Mobile SDK has been in the works for over a year at Samsung, Venture Beat reported.
"We've been working on the Mobile SDK for over a year in collaboration with Samsung, optimizing the Note 4 tech stack to deliver the first ultra-low latency, mobile virtual reality headset," said Oculus.
As the very first version of the Oculus Mobile SDK, it's dubbed as the software that has everything a "user needed to get started developing for mobile."
Its key features include asynchronous time warp, direct front buffer rendering, clock frequency locking and GPU context priorities.
Oculus Mobile SDK version 0.4.0 will also provide real-time fine grained GPU context switching and up to date CPU threading. The new software will also allow users to enjoy direct warped content feature.
With the inclusion of Oculus Cinema, Oculus 360 Photos, and Oculus 360 Videos full-source code, any user can now develop virtual reality application without too much hassle.
Aside from the open license codes, "the Mobile SDK also includes an out-of-the-box integration for Unity 4.5, with samples to help get your Unity VR project up and running quickly." Clearly, the Oculus VR software encourages developers to create virtual reality applications.
The software is considered the product of legendary programmer John Carmack, who also worked from the id Software, Engadget reports. Carmack is known as an advocate of virtual reality, especially with mobile VR. Together with Oculus and tech giant Samsung, he's been working on the software for quite a while now.
As the very first mobile virtual reality software by Carmack, Ocular Mobile SDK version 0.4.0 gives developers limitless access "to the full suite of multimedia interaction offered on Gear VR, which Oculus and Samsung are assuredly hoping is widely used. And fret not, Unity game engine developers."
Oculus VR software's partner, Gear VR Innovator Edition for Note 4, is also now available for pre-registration, according to Samsung.
The device, slated for a December release, will be available in two versions: the US$249 set that comes with a Bluetooth gamepad and the headset-only bundle for US$199.
