Iconic band U2 had to postpone their weeklong residency on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" following Bono's surgery for a cycling injury.

On their website, the band wrote, "It looks like we will have to do our Tonight Show residency another time - we're one man down. Bono has injured his arm in a cycling spill in Central Park and requires some surgery to repair it. We're sure he'll make a full recovery soon, so we'll be back! Much thanks to Jimmy Fallon and everyone at the show for their understanding."

The band's rep declined to further comment on the statement or, what had caused the lead singer's injury.

There is no word yet as to who will replace the band or, when the band can perform on "The Tonight Show".

Just last week, host Jimmy Fallon asked his viewers to submit video clips of themselves lip-syncing "The Miracle (of Joey Ramone)," the first single off "Songs of Innocence," the band's most recent album which was given for free on iTunes. A compilation of the said clips were supposed to air during the band's live performance of the said single on the late night show.

Recently, U2 performed "Invisible" on the roof of Rockefeller Center and did a collaboration with the show's mainstay band, the Roots, for the Oscar-nominated single "Ordinary Love" to celebrate Fallon's tenure.

On the other hand, Metallica is still scheduled to celebrate with Craig Ferguson on "The Late Late Show" this week to ring in his tenure with CBS.  "What better way to celebrate Craig's awesome tenure at CBS than to come and shake the rafters for a whole week. Nothing to sell, nothing to promote (except a reissue DVD)...purely hanging at Craig's personal request. Bring it!" ," drummer Lars Ulrich shared with Rolling Stone.
