Charles Manson Gets Wedding License

Eighty-year-old mass murderer Charles Manson has already obtained the license to wed the 26-year-old woman who faithfully visited him in prison and has been helping him get exoneration, Associated Press can reveal.

The bride-to-be, Afton Elaine Burton, left her home in the Midwest to be with the man she loves.

Manson has been convicted of killing seven people, including pregnant actress Sharon Tate.

A spokesperson for California's Department of Corrections confirmed that the couple has been granted permission to marry.

Each California prison also assigns a personnel to oversee the wedding and take care of the paperworks.

The couple are given until the first week of February to get married or they would have to reapply for a license again.

It's interesting to note that the two both have "X" carvings on their foreheads.

Burton has an "X"  while Manson's "X" has been turned into a swastika, which he carved during his trial because he was "X'ed out of society."

The couple's marriage license was issued Nov. 7 by Kings County.

Burton, who lives in Corcoran, where the Manson's prison is also located, runs several websites that advocates for Manson's innocence and campaigns for his exoneration.

While no specific date has yet been revealed, Burton, also known as "Star," told the AP they are planning to tie the knot December.

She also professed her deep love for Manson.

"I love him," she said.

"I'm with him. There's all kinds of things."

Manson, however, is a life prisoner and has not yet obtained a parole, which bars Burton from visiting him.

So why still marry Manson?

Burton said she is particularly interested in working on his case, so if she becomes his wife, she would have more access to information that are not available to his nonrelatives.

"There's certain things next of kin can do," she said without elaborating.

In an interview with Rolling Stones December 2013, Manson, however, called marriage as a "bunch of garbage,"  a "trash" that's purely "for public consumption."

Manson landed on the headlines in 1969 as the top guy in a nomadic "family" of young killers.

Two other followers, Leslie Van Houten, Patricia Krenwinkel, Charles "Tex" Watson, Bruce Davis and Robert Beausoleil are also in prison.

Another follower, Susan Atkins, already died of cancer while behind bars.

The Manson "family" was found guilty after the shocking murder of actress Sharon Tate, wife of director Roman Polanski, and four others at her estate on Aug. 9, 1969.

Grocers Leno and Rosemary LaBianca were also killed the night after.

Manson, a habitual criminal who have spent the better part of his life in cell, is allowed to parole until 2027.
