4 Planets to be Visible in the Sky in May

Surely, being able to watch a planet in the sky with your naked eyes is truly awesome. But how would it feel if you are able to see four planets lining up the night sky?

Astronomers in the United States said four planets - Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury and Mars - will be lined along the ecliptic from west to east, as if showcasing their glamour and brilliance in the sky for human beings to appreciate.

To laymen, that means the four planets will be very visible this month especially during a clear night sky, astronomers said.

The ecliptic is an imaginary line encircling the sky closely followed by most planets. It is also the same path that the sun appears to travel, scientists said.

First in the line from the side of the sun will be Mercury, which can be seen by the naked eye around 45 minutes after sunset in the west this month, scientists told Forexters.com. A small telescope will also help.

Experts said that while Mercury, which will be represented by a bright orange spot, will be visible from earth this month, the best time for a perfect view will be in the last half of May, said the French Tribune.

Jupiter will also be visible even without the use of telescope. The planet will be represented by a glowing white in the west sky during twilight. A small telescope will allow viewers to see four of Jupiter's moon, astronomers said.

Mars, with its reddish-orange color, will also be visible but using a telescope will make the Martian disc visible. The red planet can be seen high in the southeast.

focus to the left, still in the southeast, is the planet Saturn, which is bathed in yellow-white. While visible to the naked eye, using a telescope will further enhanced the ring around Saturn, adding brilliance to the planet, scientists said.
