The "WoW Dark Portal" is apparently equipped with a camera on one side while the other side uses a screen. You basically pose behind the portal and the people in front will see you in a background, which gives the illusion that you seem to come from another world.

As cited by GameNGuide, a number of graphics and impressive special effects help give the illusion a realistic feel.

Once in a while, a character from the "World of Warcraft" will appear that will either strike a pose or hurl a firebomb or two.

"The WoW Dark Portal" is intended to drum up interest among Chinese gamers about WoW's latest expansion -- "The Warlords of Draenor."

The dark portal is situated in Shanghai's busiest subway station. Blizzard and Net Ease also created a "WoW: Warlords of Draenor" themed McDonald restaurants.

"The Warlords of Draenor" is the fifth expansion in the "World of Warcraft." The story takes place in the original Orcish homeworld of Draenor.

Warchief Garrosh Hellscream has been captured by the Alliance-Horde forces. He ' to stand trial for the war crimes he perpetuated in Pandaria.

Hellscream, however, escapes and travels back to a time when the Orcs have not yet been united into a single horde in Draenor. He prevents various clans from drinking Mannoroth's blood and thus creates an alternative timeline. Had the Orcs drank the blood, they would have been corrupted by the Burning Legion.

The Orcish clans instead form the "Iron Horde" and started conquering the rest of Draenor. The Orcs were successful, as Hellscream taught them new technologies for war. They begin to build a dark portal toenable them to travel in time and conquer the present day Azeroth.
