Apple MacBook Air fans need to have more patience as the Retina Display edition is taking a little while longer.
According to reports, the device won't be launched until middle of 2015. The MacBook Air is Apple's only computer that ships without the Retina Display and it could be because of the suppliers.

Reports say the MacBook Air Retina Display delay is due to a short supply of Intel's next-gen 14-nanometer Broadwell chips that allow the laptop to be fan-less and have power efficiency advantages. Other reports say Apple is simply having difficulty integrating the Retina Display feature with its most portable notebook.
The biggest problem is said to be the device's battery life. Adding more pixels to an LCD needs stronger backlights and powerful graphics processing to draw extra content. The MacBook Air, however, got a slight improvement early in 2014 when Haswell processors were added to increase battery life and speed.
Rumors about a 12-inch MacBook started after Ming Cho Kuo of KGI Securities predicted a Q1 2015 release. Reports pointed at a fan-less design but others believe that it's not Apple since Apple won't compromise its performance quality. Other reports suggest the upcoming MacBook may still have a Core i5 or i7.
The MacBook Air may also include the TouchID technology that could be more convenient than pass codes. It took one year before Apple decided to include this technology on iPads and it may take one year before its laptop line gets it, as well.
