(Photo : Reuters) Apple might be having more success with the iPhone 6 Plus in Asia, but in the U.S. the iPhone 6 is the people's favorite.

Apple's recently released new products and overhauls could be the reason behind its amazing US$700 billion market cap.

It wasn't always a smooth ride for Apple with tough competition and road blocks along the way but the company still reached this all-time high. Apple stocks peaked at US$114 on Nov. 14 and before the seven-to-one stock split early in 2014, it could have reached US$800.

Its US$800 is ahead of the presplit US$70 two years ago but it was just last week that Apple posted its highest market capitalization so far.

According to reports, Apple shares are up 54 percent for the past 12 months. Since 2014 started, shares are up about 42 percent. The new iPhone release also helped boost its stock, reaching a 16 percent increase. Apple said its earnings report and shares went up by 11 percent.

Apple is the world's most profitable company except for those supported by the Chinese government. Apple is known for its highest brand loyalty for its tablets, smartphones and headphones and can convert retention into profits and margins. Apple remains on top while its rival, Samsung, is currently in a slump.

Can Apple retain its US$700 billion market cap and even exceed it?

It appears possible because Apple holds 40 percent of the smartphone market in the United States. Apple owes over half of its net income to its smartphone division and with its strong and exclusive ecosystem, analysts believe the company can maintain its position given that no huge missteps are taken.

As long as Apple can hold its stable stream of customers, it could be worth beyond its market cap.
