Stand-up comedian and actor Dave Chappelle just stated that he doesn't think that former owner of the National Basketball Association (NBA) team, the Los Angeles Clippers, should have lost his team.

Sterling was forced to sell his team when racist comments that he made in a phone call surfaced. This then resulted in a lifetime ban from the NBA and the loss of his team.

While Sterling doesn't have many fans after his comments, in an interview with GQ magazine, Chappelle sees things a bit differently.

Chappelle is an NBA enthusiast. He is a fan of the Golden State Warriors and has a strong following in the Bay area where he visits and performs regularly.

In the interview, Chappelle said the he really doesn't think that Sterling should have lost his team.

"I don't like the idea that someone could record a secret conversation and that a person could lose their assets from that, even though I think what he said was awful. When you think about the intimacy of a situation, like, can a man just chill with his mistress in peace?"

He went on to say that he just doesn't like how the situation unfolded. He said that it was because, if people started taking things away from you for comments you say that are objectionable, he himself may not have much left.

This is granted that he wouldn't be caught telling someone not to bring white people to his games.

Since the debacle, Sterling's wife was forced to sell the team.

It inevitably fell into the hands of Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer for US $2 billion. With the deal, Ballmer had to promise the Sterlings that the team would stay in LA and not go to Seattle, while granting Mrs. Sterling the title of "owner emeritus."

This would give her floor season tickets for all Clippers games and three championship rings if the Clippers won a championship.
