Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban Hopes Lakers 'Suck Forever'

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is the most vocal team-owner in the NBA, known for his amusing behavior, and the businessman didn't shy away from his antics again in a recent interview saying he hopes the Lakers "suck forever."
In an interview with NBC4's Fred Roggin on The Beast 980 radio station, Cuban talked about multiple sports-related topics including the competitiveness in the NBA.

When asked whether the struggling Lakers should look to acquire top-level players, the Pittsburgh-native talked about their potential strategy and ended it in typical Mark Cuban fashion.
"As far as the Lakers, I think there's going to be a lot of teams that are going to be focusing and saying, 'Look, I've got a ton of cap room. Free agent A, B and C, why don't you guys come together and come play for me?' LA has always been considered a destination, so maybe they feel that's a valid strategy. I don't know. But you know me, Fred. Personally, I just hope they suck forever."
While it may not be talked about much within the NBA, the Mavericks and Lakers do have somewhat of a rivalry so Cuban's statement comes as no surprise. The two teams are have battled in the Western Conference year after year, and although they only met once in the playoffs, the Mavericks swept the Lakers in 2011, after which the Lakers fell into decline.
Cuban's certainly not shy to voice his opinion, as he's constantly getting fined for criticizing referees or violating league rules with public comments to the media. But the owner isn't all fun and games and showed respect towards Lakers' Kobe Bryant.
"Even though Kobe's got a lot of mileage on his body, he's not what we would consider old anymore," Cuban said in the interview. "Kobe is still going to be a beast because he's just got that mental fortitude and that desire to win."
