CNN's Don Lemon Criticised for 'insensitive' Advice to Bill Cosby Rape Accuser: JoanTarshis Not Offended

Don Lemon's advice to Joan Tarshis, Bill Cosby's accuser, was deemed offensive by the social networking sites. Although Tarshis said she was not offended by Lemon's statement, the CNN anchor has made a public apology on his offensive remarks, "You know, there are ways not to perform oral sex if you didn't want to do it," and he persistently added, "Meaning the using of the teeth, right?" and he made it more clear, "As a weapon ... Biting," The Gaurdian reported.

Tarshis narrated the allege crime committed against her sometime in 1969 by Bill Cosby, in an interview with Lemon on CNN Tonight. The anchor seemed to handle the topic in an offensive manner which touched on the sensitive nature of the viewers, particularly because it involves a crime against women. However, Tarshis viewed it as just casual conversation.
Amidst the viewers' outrage which has prevailed over the internet and social networking sites, Lemon admitted his mistake saying that as a victim also, he never meant to insinuate the idea that the victim should have prevented the crime. His words could have meant differently to the viewers or taken from a different point of view, but he firmly says that it was never his intention to neither offend Cosby's accuser nor blame her for allowing the crime to happen.
Critics were shocked with his statements which focused more on the behaviour of a rape victim rather than look into the wrong done by the accused to Tarshis. Not to mention that since 2006 Cosby has faced accusations of sexual assault from a number of women, as one complaint came after the other and another victim testifies in favour of another victim. Yet, despite of all those, no formal charged of any offence was filed against him as of this date.
