Hong Kong actor Wong Cho Lam, after hinting for months that he'll be giving Leanne Li a wedding she wouldn't forget, surprised the public when he suddenly proposed to the actress in front of the attendees of the TVB Anniversary yesterday, November 19.

Wong and Li are finally engaged! During the TVB Anniversary, the former proposed to his girlfriend in front of the viewers, surprising everyone.

According to media reports, Wong came up on the stage with his 'Come On, Cousin' co-stars, Bob Lam, Louis Cheung and Ram Chiang while holding a huge bouquet of red roses before he knelt in front of Li. He then explained that Li told him once that she wanted a big surprise once he proposes and that he decided to do so at the event because everyone was present.

Wong began his speech, saying that he and Li are very different individuals, also jokingly citing that when they met, he was just a children's program host while she was a beauty queen.

"Before today, I've never been so nervous in speaking. I'm thankful towards God that we're able to meet," Wong said. "I found that our mutual caring and sacrifices proved my belief that no matter how difficult it was to pursue you initially, it would be my lifelong joy if you marry me."

The actor is said to have presented the actress with a three-carat diamond ring.

On the other hand, Li is said to have cried when the actor proposed and said yes when he finally asked her to marry him. The actress is said to have immediately removed the ring she was wearing at the event, replacing it with the engagement ring that Wong had given to her.

The moment the actress responded to his proposal her parents, who were present during the event, also came up on stage, followed by many of the couple's fellow TVB artists who came to congratulate them.

After Wong's proposal, Li spoke to the press and expressed that she was really pleasantly surprised when her boyfriend just decided to propose right there and then.
