It has been revealed that there were complaints submitted to the Hong Kong Communications Authority after the event was aired on television.
One media outlet reported that the complaints were mostly about the dresses of the female artists, since many of them were wearing backless dresses, some with plunging necklines that displayed not only their legs but their cleavages as well. The complainants claimed that the event was not suitable for public broadcast due.
Another matter the viewers have complained about was the style of the celebrities who attended the gala, while others have complained that the show was dull and monotonous. Others have cited, the production for the said event was mediocre.
The highlight of the evening, the Wong Cho Lam's proposal to his girlfriend, actress Leanne Li, also received criticism. Despite it being a touching moment for many, there were those who have suspicions about the proposal's genuineness and supposed surprise nature.
To support their claims, some of the complainants have cited how Li discussed about her upcoming nuptial plans with a wedding magazine before the event which made them doubt if she was even surprised about the proposal.
Some have speculated that the proposal was a promotional gimmick and that it was used to compensate for the lack of preparation on the part of the production team.
