Hua said Foreign Minister Wang Yi has contacted Vietnam's Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh to express condemnation on the violent disruptions of Chinese company's drilling operation in the South China Sea.
Wang made an urgent phone call to Pham to condemn the attacks and to urge the Vietnamese government to put an end to the riot, Hua said.
Hua said China has demanded that Vietnam must harshly punish the perpetrators and immediately put an end to the violent actions. China also urged Vietnam to ensure that similar acts of violence will not take place again.
The identities of the two Chinese nationals who died in the ongoing anti-China riot in Vietnam have not been immediately disclosed. The circumstances behind the death were not also revealed.
Chinese nationals and Chinese-looking foreigners in Vietnam have packed their bags and left the country as violent Vietnamese protesters stormed factories and offices they believed were owned by Chinese companies.
The governments of Singapore and Taiwan have also condemned the attacks on offices and factories owned by Singaporean and Taiwanese businesses.
Vietnamese media reported that the violence in Binh Duong and Ha Tinh provinces have ended and order has been restored, prompting enterprises to resume operations.
According to the state-run radio Voice of Vietnam, order in industrial parks in the southern Vietnamese province of Binh Duong has been restored while enterprises that were not severely affected by the riot have already resumed operations.
