Pablo Sandoval is reportedly signing a deal with the Boston Red Sox after building another strong postseason record. The new contract ends his seven-year stay with the San Francisco Giants.

Sandoval's agent, Gustavo Vasquez, has confimed the deal with Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal. He said the deal is officially done, and minus the pending physical for Sandoval, there will be a press conference tomorrow to make it known to the public.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports says that the deal could be worth close to US $100 million over five years. He adds that Sandoval has informed his team of his decision.

The Giants tried to match the offer of the Red Sox, but ultimately failed. Their final offer was US $95 million over five years, some shy of his new deal.

The decision did not come as bad news to the Giants. In fact, the team looked to take it well enough. They released a statement on Sandoval via Alex Pavlovic of the Mercury News.

"Pablo Sandoval has been a key member of the Giants since breaking into the Majors with us in 2008. He has been with us through some of the greatest moments in history - including all three World Series Championships," the statement read.

It goes on to say how the team will never forget his World Series Most Valuable Player (MVP) performance in 2012 and his additional contributions to the 2014 Championship.

While the statement sows a tremendous amount of respect by the team, Mike Lynch of WCVB-TV in Boston said that Sandoval isn't happy with the Giants because he feels disrespected. He seeks greener pastures with the Red Sox.

In his last two postseason runs, Sandoval has tallied 50 hits, scored 21 runs, and has a batting average over .360. According to ESPN Stats & Info, Sandoval's 26 hits is the most by a hitter in a single postseason.
