The bodyguards were reportedly worried that an incident might occur and even the Iranian delegation entered the room to check on the situation between the representatives of the involved countries.
However, the Iranian delegate, as well as the bodyguards of the U.S. representatives, was informed by the European Union Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton that Zarif was not doing anything wrong and was just shouting. This is in accordance with previous reports pressing that Zarif tends to be aggressive when in talks with Western counterparts especially when it is with the Americans.
Another Iranian diplomat named Abbas Araghchi noted that Zarif also shouted at Kerry during past negotiations in Geneva and regarded it as a first in the history of U.S. diplomacy. Araghchi added that he and Zarif are like the good cop-bad cop duo and he noted that they do this to try and baffle the Western diplomats pressing that they want to keep them uneasy.
Araghchi continued saying that Kerry did not say a lot after being shouted at by Zarif and even regarded that Kerry said nothing but respectful sentences amid the situation.
Meanwhile, the nuclear talks might again be extended again. Both the Western and Iranian officials press that it is impossible to reach a final deal on the Monday deadline. The United States is reportedly desperate over having a deal with Iran and that critics press nothing great would come out of the situation.
