The addition of Stings is a result of the unenthusiastic sales and reviews for Sting's first musical play. "The Last Ship" is about the young man who leaves his working class English town to make a better life because the current situation of ship building is dying in his town.

Sting told Reuters that the play is doing well but not enough to be successful and the producers said that the only solution is to include Sting to the play. Sting also think that the decision is a gamble but he is willing to do whatever it takes and he knew that it would not be easy.

The Broadway musical "The Last Ship" had cost US$15 million but the ticket sales only took about US$550,000 a week at the box office compared to the potential US$1.2 million sales.

The people behind the musical play hoped that the appearance of Sting to the play will attract more viewers and will generate 50,000 theatergoers to keep the play alive.

Sting already appeared on the 1989 "The Threepenny Opera" and did many movies. The role that he will play in "The Last Ship" was once played by his good friend, Jimmy Nail.

The British actor, Nail was opened to the idea of Sting replacing him in the musical and he will do anything to save the show.

As for Sting, he knows that playing the role needs hard work but he was confident that he can do it.
