Rex Ryan, Head Coach for the National Football League's (NFL) New York Jets, reports that he has known all season about the team's plan to fire him.

In the 2014 season, the Jets have fallen to 2-9 following Monday's 38-3 loss to the Buffalo Bills at Detroit.

Though Ryan has maintained quite a positive outlook when addressing members of the press, he's reportedly been resigned to a doomed fate all year long.

Mark Cannizzaro of the New York Post said that Ryan has known all season that general manager John Idzik would fire him at year's end.

The Post gathered that during the offseason, Ryan had bumped into scouts and other coaches from around the league who told him of Idzik's plan. He was planning all along to replace Ryan after the season and bring in his own head coach.

All year, it was said that Ryan has been exasperated by the deficiency of talent Idzik has provided for the team.

Ryan lacks star power in two positions: corner back - which is the most crucial position on his defences - and quarterback.

Idzik brought in Geno Smith this year to address the issue of the quarterback, but it did little to remedy the situation.

If the reports are true, it just confirms that Idzik really made it hard for Ryan by not pursuing top-tier personnel.

Smith and wide receiver Percy Harvin have proved to be volatile personalities, with the latter being a player that Idzik traded for in the middle of the season.

Cannizzaro notes that the Jets are more than US $20 million under the salary cap this season, which was like a message to Ryan that there was not a strong commitment to win during a year in which Ryan knew he had to win to keep his job.

As to when Ryan will get sacked, he has commented publicly that he will be allowed to finish the year at least.
