'The Phantom of the Opera' star Emmy Rossum says she plans her outfits days before she actually wears them.

According to the 28-year old actress, she was able to perfect her smart and put-together clothing style by sorting out the clothes in her closet into groups, organizing them into a coordinated style. She also revealed that she has makes a habit of choosing her outfit for the day well ahead of time.

On a recent interview with People magazine, Rossum explained that she always likes to look 'smart and put together' without having to put too much effort into it.

"Sometimes I pick out outfits on the weekend that I might wear during the week, or before a season comes, I'll kind of group things together in the closet that might go together," the 28-year old actress said, explaining that it was her tactic in order for her outfit to come together a lot quicker whenever she has to dress up early in the morning.

Rossum, who starred in the film 'Beautiful Creatures', also revealed that she has a habit of basing her clothes on simple 'cross-seasonal' pieces which allows her to look elegant the whole year.

During the interview, Rossum shared what she was wearing, saying that she put together an ensemble which included a black Capri-style pair of pants from a company called Bardot.

"It's a very smart, simple lightweight black pant that can transition with layers into a winter look," she explained about the pants.

Furthermore, Rossum said that she likes wearing the pants with ballets flats and turtleneck since it gives a very easy and elegant European feel to it.

On the other hand, with regard to her preparation for the Christmas holidays, she shared that she is in the process of preparing for Christmas presents, giving advice that people should find personal and inexpensive gifts to give to their loved ones.
