After rounds and rounds selection during one year in 10 cities in China with about 10,000 people auditioning, the top 16 campus belles were selected and trained on talents and stage performance. In the finals, they presented their talents and personal charm to audience. Ultimately, Li Xuanzhen, an international student from South Korea, won the championship. Yang Shanshan from Donghua University and Zhang Yixin from Fushun the Seventh High School received the second and third place, respectively.

Li is a sophomore and a broadcast major at the Communication University of China. In June this year, pictures of her made her popular on the internet. She looked very cute and was eating ice cream in the pictures, so netizens gave her a name, "Ice Cream Sister".

However, netizens criticized the championship because a Chinese woman didn't win the title of Chinese belle.

"Why does a Korean girl become Chinese campus belle? It is hard to understand. Are there no Chinese belles?" A netizen asked.

Also, Li looks different in the picture holding the trophy with the "ice cream" pictures. Netizen june says, "May I ask it is the same person?" "She looks very normal. Where do Chinese girl go?" Another netizen put bluntly.

Netizens doubt the selection mechanism as well. "Who certify the Chinese Campus Belle? It is totally a joke." Netizen Leave_night says. Netizen Yuhuang comments that "Campus belle should be recognized by a school. Competition and selection do not count."
