The government of Taiwan will send a delegation to Vietnam to hold three workshops to help the victims of the anti-China riots last week to get back on their feet.
Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) said the delegation will be headed by Vice Economics Minister Shen Jong-chin, who will be joined by 24 officials from MOEA's Tax Administration, Department of Investment Services and the National Treasury Administration.

The officials will visit four industrial zones located in Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces, Vietnam's most southern part. It was reported that Taiwanese factories in these provinces where most damaged.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Shen said the workshops are intended to explain what Tapei has done to respond to the violence against Taiwanese businesses. It will also use the workshops to show how it plans to help factories damaged by the riots restart their operations.
The delegation will also cover issues such as tax deductions for disaster-related losses, insurance compensation and efforts to demand tariff cuts on import and machinery imports.
The issue of compensation from Hanoi was also raised during the press conference. Sun Lih-chyun, a Cabinet spokesperson, said that the two governments are still working on the matter. Sun did not elaborate further.
In 1993, Taiwan and Vietnam signed an agreement in which the latter will extend investment protection to Taiwanese businesses. Taipei was holding on to this agreement to get due compensation for Taiwanese businesses that incurred massive losses during last week's anti-China riots.
According to MOEA data, a total of 224 Taiwanese businesses were damaged during the riots. Eighteen factories were burned down, five were destroyed, and the operations of around 100 other businesses remained suspended to this day.
