Instead of feeling the holiday's warmth within the comfort of their own homes during Thanksgiving, thousands of people chose to stand in long queues and some to camp outside their favorite department stores in anticipation of the season's exceptional display of America's finest goods and products.

In St. Petersburg, most people waited for more than 24 hours, Thursday, for the opening of Best Buy to ensure that they get that Panasonic flat screen at $350 cheaper or that Wii U package for only around $360, or those discounted iPhones and iPads that you won't get at a minimum of $30 - $100 discount during ordinary days.

Although thousands of people waited in eagerness, their faces painted annoyance due to the number of people everyone needs to compete with in getting their desired items.

Over the past years, people have started making their turkey night their Black Friday to avoid the rush on the sale day itself. This year, though, it was said that the gush of buyers have started proliferating stores since the week after Halloween, a clear representation of an improved economy.

A lot of retail stores in Tampa Bay welcomed consumers early evening, compelling most families to leave their dinner tables of turkey and green beans and withstand the cold temperature just so they can hit the bargain hours.

Couple Raymond LeBlanc and Cheyenne Harms got their Thanksgiving customer number 1 spot when they decided to line up at Best Buy Wednesday 1 p.m. They celebrated Thanksgiving with their son a week in advance to actualize this sale plan and all for the love of a flat screen TV at $350 off.

Vickie Rizzo, a grandmother hopeful to purchase some nice gifts for her grandchildren, exclaims, "My back hurts, I've been cooking all day."

She said she wanted a nap and would rather that she rest at home than stand in really long queues. However, she notes that her grandchildren would be very happy to receive awesome gifts this Christmas.

Stacey Karras, an employee of Toys 'R' Us who works across the street from Best Buy, is happily entertaining a crowd of parents and children getting their desired gifts for the holidays. She said she didn't mind working Thanksgiving Day and found it genuinely delightful to make young boys and girls really very happy.
