The Voice has declared 38-year-old Josh Kaufman as its Season 6 champion on Tuesday. Kaufman has triumphed over 20-year-old Christina Grimmie from Marlton, New Jersey, and 18-year-old Jake Worthington from La Porte, Texas who came in second.

Kaufman, from Team Usher, works as a SAT tutor and is a married dad of three kids. His win marks Usher's first mentoring victory and breaks the winning streaks of coaches Blake Shelton and Adam Levine.

The singing contest had cancelled some of the votes counted by downloads because of a glitch in Kaufman's song. However, The Voice host Carson Daly said it did not affect the overall tally.

Both Levine and Shelton, who have been present on all The Voice seasons, will come back for the seventh edition of the NBC singing contest this fall, with new coaches Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani joining them. The two champ coaches bade co-panelists Usher and Shakira a temporary farewell on Tuesday.

Usher said Kaufman's victory provided him with an inspiration to come back to the Emmy-winning show as a coach. He also praised Kaufman's performance, determination, commitment, and performance style.

Since The Voice was launched, Levine had gathered a streak of five wins, which Usher broke this season. The latter also praised the two other coaches and recounted the time when Adam let him steal Kaufman from his team earlier.

In another new conference, three-time coaching winner Shelton complimented the new coaching champ, saying Usher had what it took to beat them.

Tuesday's grand two-hour finale was opened with a grand performance from OneRepublic. Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, and Tim McGraw also performed in the event.

Sheeran did a duet with Grimmie, while Kaufman performed with Robin Thicke. Worthington, on the other hand, sang with Alabama during the Season 6 finale of The Voice.
