A man from Florida has been charged with premeditated first degree murder as he admitted to the killing of his own mother whom he shot with a gun and also with a bow and arrow.

The man was identified as 42-year-old Michael Watkins and his mother was identified as 65-year-old Gloria Watkins. Investigators disclosed that the killing happened in their house.

According to the authorities, they went to the Watkins residence after they received a call from a neighbor saying that that there was someone in the area who was knocking over the Christmas decorations. Also, that person was yelling in the front yard of the Watkins residence.

The Public Information Officer of the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, Michelle Nicholson, said in a statement that the sheriff's office was called on Avon Lane at around 2:48 in the morning on Sunday. The call was filed under a criminal mischief reports.

The police then arrived at the scene and saw the elderly woman slouched over a couch with arrows on her head. Michael then emerged from the house with a large knife wrapped around his waist.

The officers then ordered him to stand down and he obeyed. However, just after a few minutes of complying, he stood back up. Michael was back on his feet and removed the large knife from his waist resulting to police tasering him twice. Due to this, he has also been charged with resisting arrest without violence.

Officers added in the report that before Michael was taken in, he pointed to his mother saying, "You see that, that's death." Officers noted that Michael claims he killed his mother because she allegedly intended to kill him first.

Michael shot his mother three times in the head, stabbed her with a knife, and eventually shot her with a bow and arrow. It is not yet known as to why Michael thought his mother was trying to kill him. Michael added that his mother stole his diamonds and that she gave his father cancer.
