Bollywood star Gauahar Khan was slapped by an audience in her own singing show.

Khan was attacked Sunday while on the set of her TV show, India's Raw Star. Hindustani Times reports that the suspect was a 24-year-old man who said that the star's revealing attire affronted him.

The security guard on the set immediately pinned down Mohammed Akil Mallick. He was turned over to the police.

A witness told the newspaper that the studio was packed by around 2,500 people and 250 bouncers.

The witness went on that Mallick first teased Khan, before getting into an argument with her.

"While he was being escorted out of the place, he managed to go up onstage and slapped her," the witness said.

"Malik told the actress that he was against her wearing short clothes before slapping her. He touched her inappropriately as well," a police officer told DNAIndia.com.

A video taken after the assault showed Khan crying while a crew member tries to console her.

"It was chaos after the security pulled the man away. Gauahar was shocked and was crying a lot. A stunned Gauahar didn't understand what happened. Though the shooting was stopped, Gauahar took a break of an hour to gather her bearings and then reported back on stage to finish the leftover one hour shoot," the witness further narrated.

 According to DNAIndia.com, police investigation is already in the progress and it is believed that Mallick would be charged with assault as provided by India's Penal Code.

A report from Reuters further revealed that Mallick told cops, "Being a Muslim woman, she shouldn't have worn such a short dress."

Khan is a star in Bollywood films. She was also a model, best remembered for winning Big Boss, India's equivalent of Big Brother, in 2013.
