Idina Menzel dampened hopes that a part 2 may be on its way after addressing rumors about whether or not a Frozen sequel will push through.

Idina's statement in her interview with Telegraph that Frozen 2 is "in the works...hopefully" was picked by the media and netizens were quick to make the headlines trending.

It turns out that Idina, who lent her voice to Elsa may have spoken too much, too soon.

In an interview at the Today Show  Monday morning, Menzel said, "You know, I have no idea. I just assumed that because it's so successful that's what they're up to!"

Alan Horn, Disney chairman, told reporters April that the studio has not yet discussed any plans for a sequel to Frozen.

However, Disney is interested on getting the movie adapted on Broadway.

But Horn also did not specify that the studio has no plans at all of producing a sequel. After all, the animated movie, loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen's The Snow Queen, grossed US$1.27 billion since its release in November 2013, making it the highest-grossing animated film in history.

It also grabbed two Oscars, for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song ("Let It Go").

The studio earned an additional US$1 billion in retail revenue. Just recently, Frozen characters Elsa, Anna and Olaf, knocked down Barbie as the best-selling holiday gifts for girls.

It's definitely a wise business decision if Disney could bring Anna and Elsa back on screen.

Fans, meanwhile, could still relive their Frozen moments with the one-off short, Frozen Fever, slated for release next year. Menzel and her co-stars, Kristen Bell and Josh Gadd, are slated to reprise their roles.

The mini-adventure will still be directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck. A new original song by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, will be featured in the short.
