HKTV Suffering from Low Viewership Rates

Hong Kong broadcast network HKTV, despite creating quite a buzz with the drama 'The Election', is reportedly suffering from low ratings and has even lost to ATV, a rival station.

With the recent release of 'The Election,' HKTV may seem like it has achieved heights when it comes to ratings as the drama has been a hit series. However, recent reports say that the station is affected by the unstable viewership. In addition, the network's ratings is said to be so low that ATV, a struggling station in Hong Kong, has beaten HKTV.

One of the reasons that some sources have cited is the overhyped and overrated dramas that the network has been releasing. In relation to this issue, before the release of the dramas 'The Election' and 'The Borderline', many have speculated that the productions will beat TVB's viewership.

A separate party has also questioned HKTV's claims that they have an average of 358,000 viewers every day. TVB has also recalculated the numbers using the Nielsen TAM rating reports.

According to the research made by TVB, HKTV only garners 3.8 points with only 246,000 viewers during the prime time hours from November 19 to 25 as opposed to what the network has claimed. On the other hand, ATV got 5.2 points with 337,000 viewers and TVB took the top spot once more with 53.7 points and more than 3 million viewers.

Despite the rave that HKTV will be dethroning TVB from the top spot, TVB still remained as the leading network in Hong Kong. It also remains to be seen that TVB is still unaffected despite the fluctuating numbers of viewers.

Tsang Sing Ming, the Deputy Director of External Affairs for TVB, has expressed his confidence towards the company, saying that they have maintained a stable performance due to surprising results from programs they have recently launched.

Furthermore, reports also say that TVB has not lost any viewers despite the launching of HKTV.
