The Girl Scouts of the United States of America has recently announced a new project called "Digital Cookie" that will allow them to sell their beloved cookies, such as Samoas and Thin Mints, available for sale online via a mobile app or personalized websites.

According to reports, the project is aimed to get girls interested in using computers at a very young age. Girls Scouts members are said to be advertising the cookie program as their way to know good business and negotiation skills also at a young age.
These skills are said to be improved with the use of the digital program. The use of the Internet to sell cookies is a way for the organization's adoption of the technological advances.
The reports say that the program aims to teach girls five skills: business ethics, decision-making, goal setting, money management and people skills. Online marketing and the usage of apps is also to be taught in the said project.
However, "Digital Cookie" will not be an online store for cookies. It is only a website for the Girl Scouts to initiate their sales. Basically, you will not be ordering the cookies online but you will be contacted by a Girl Scout.
Concerns have also been raised regarding the safety of the girls as only Girl Scouts are allowed to initiate the sales. It has been assured then that information about the girls is not put up online and activities on the web are supposed to be parent-approved.
It is estimated that around 1 million Girl Scouts will be using the new program to sell cookies.
