Boy with Cancer Offers Inspiring Words to New OSU Quarterback Cardale Jones

Following the injury of Ohio State University (OSU) quarterback J.T. Barrett, it fell to third-string quarterback Cardale Jones to lead his team. Relatively new to the game, Jones got some words of inspiration from a young boy with cancer.

Jones has no starting experience. The order on his plate is tall as he is now expected to lead OSU against number 13 ranked Wisconsin Badgers with a Big Ten title and a possible playoff berth hanging in the balance.

What's a new quarterback to do?

This is where Joshua Chambers comes into the picture. He is a boy in Florida who is battling an even more fearsome opponent than the Badgers; the opponent's name is high-risk acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

It turns out that Chambers is a big Buckeyes fan and has kept in contact with several OSU players.

This past summer, OSU linebacker Joshua Perry began collecting video messages from his teammates via cell-phone camera. The messages contained inspiring messages that he would then forward as gifts of hope and joy to the boy who idolized their team.

However, in an unexpected turn of events, Chambers returned the favour. He kept the spirit of the Buckeyes up with his video pep talks that always feature the phrase "Be brave."

He was even able to deliver the message in person in fall when he flew up to Columbus to meet the players he kept in touch with.

One person that Chambers has inspired is Jones who is facing the biggest game of his life.

Chambers sent a simple video to Jones, wanting to let him know that he believes in the quarterback.

"The Cardale video was to hopefully lend an ounce of inspiration to him in the midst of what seems to be a lot of doubt surrounding his ability," Joshua's father, Jeremy, told Fox Sports Ohio. "Joshua believes that he can do it, and that the Buckeyes will win."
