When the Grammy-winning pop diva finally arrived, the pissed off NBC execs got fed up and decided it's better to send her home.
Those around even noticed that when she arrived at Rockefeller Center three hours late, she was still on the phone and still discussing divorce matters.
Meanwhile, sources for E! News has another story to tell. It was revealed that the actress was concerned that the dampened weather would affect her voice.
"She was concerned about it affecting her voice," an insider said.
"The buzz on set was that Mariah eventually showed up in her car, but refused to get out of the car because of the weather."
There were actually 15 children all age 10 and under who were supposed to be her backup dancers.
The source went on saying that "the kids were incredibly disappointed when Mariah did not show up on set."
Carey, however, really wanted to perform and the studio eventually had a change of mind and decided to let her sing, instead, live tonight.
In her Twitter, she posted: "Last night's situation was beyond my control. I apologize to all that showed up, you know that I would never want to disappoint you."
She also said: "You've kept me here, in your hearts, and I keep you in mine always. We are #lambily! #ThereForMe. I will be opening tonight's live show in Rockefeller center with "All I Want For Christmas Is You"!!!! Tune in at 8pm on NBC!"
