Will Ferrell and celebrity twin Chad Smith finally held their most awaited drum-off on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where the two gave their audience the most epic drum performance yet.
It all began when Ferrell participated in Reddit's "Ask Me Anything" session where a fan remarked on his very close resemblance with the Red Hot Chili Peppers (RHCP) drummer. The lookalikes finally decided to hold a drum-off to see who the better drummer is and raise money for charity, according to Time Magazine.

In response to the comment on their resemblance, Ferrell said he considered it an insult to his lookalike when people think it's him playing for the RHCP band. He also playfully said that Will Ferrell does not exist and only Chad Smith does.
At that point, Smith challenged Ferrell to a drum-off, which was aired on Jimmy Fallon's show. At the beginning of the drum-off, each of them pounded out three drum solos.
As expected, Chad Smith gained a lot of lead on Ferrell when the latter pulled out a cow bell. The lights then dimmed and the rest of the RHCP members came out to perform Blue Oyster Cult's "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" in a satirical reference to Ferrell's previous appearance on SNL (Sunday Night Live).
The epic drum-off ended with Ferrell being declared the winner and awarded a gold cowbell trophy. Later on, Ferrel took to Instagram his take on the drum battle, jokingly remarking that his opponent was "reduced to tears" after the duel.
According to The Huffington Post, the celebrity doppelgangers performed the drum-off to raise funding for charity. Ferrell was able to raise money for Cancer for College, while Smith did it for Little Kids Rock.
Ferrell's most recent experience with percussion before the famous drum-off was during an SNL skit where he played a cowbell while wearing a tiny t-shirt.
