"She was an incredible soul who made countless sacrifices so that I could become the woman - and now mother - I am today," the statement continued.
The 33-year-old former X Factor judge, together with her family, is deeply thankful for the "love and support" that people showed on Garrison's passing.
Her family is asking for privacy "during this difficult time."
The singer was only seven years old when her father abandoned her and her mother. Since then, her mother had single-handedly raised her.
