New York police arrested some of those protesting the grand jury's "no indictment" decision on a deadly chokehold case despite the demonstrations being conducted in a peaceful manner.
On Wednesday, the Staten Island grand jury decided not to indict white New York Police Officer whose tight chokehold on a black man led to the latter's death. The decision sparked a wave of protests and disapproval from elected officials.

In July, Officer Daniel Pantaleo, 29, apprehended Eric Garner, 43, for selling loose cigarettes and used a tight chokehold on him during the arrest
The encounter was recorded on video and was widely shared online. However, after reviewing the footage and hearing the accounts of witnesses, the jurors deliberated that there was not enough evidence to move the case forward.
Angry protesters from Tompkinsville, Times Squarer cities flooded the streets chanting Garner's last words "This stops today" and "I can't breathe."
Pantaleo has been serving the public for eight years now and he appeared before the grand jury last November 21. He said he did not intend to choke Garner and insisted he never thought that the man was in grave danger.
Due to this, elected officials asked the Justice Department to intervene, saying proper charges could only be issued in federal courts. A civil rights iquiry was then opened hours before the announcement.
Also, it has been found out that the maneuver by Pantaleo has already been banned years ago but the grand jury did not question why he still used it on Garner.
The decision about Pantaleo's case came just days before the grand jury decided not to indict Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson for shooting and killing unarmed black teenager Michael Brown.
U.S President Barack Obama has released a statement explaining that the frustration of African-Americans against the legal system is still connected to the long history of the discrimination of the white people against the blacks.
